An Evening with Paul Gascoigne

Paul Gascoigne is widely recognised as England’s most gifted footballers of all time. 

Gazza’s electric dribbling, close ball control and creativity was a joy to watch. He could see passes that others couldn’t, and had the technical ability to pull them off. He could split a defence with a ball threaded through the eye of a needle. 

In quite a rare combination, Gazza was able to combine his flair with a big physical presence that meant he was hard to knock off the ball.

One of Gazza’s most iconic goals came against Scotland in Euro 96, where he delicately flicked the ball over the onrushing defender, before belting the ball into the back of the net. The resulting ‘Dentist’s Chair‘ celebration is arguably even more infamous.

Gascoigne endeared himself to fans around the world with his bubbly personality and entertaining antics. Gazza’s tears at Italia 90 showed a raw human side to the icon, bringing him even closer to the fans who love him to this day.
